Where to begin?

The long and short of it... well mostly long of it:

I... am a fat kid.  I love anything that involves the use of sugar and an oven.

Last April I went to the doctor because the chronic yet undeterminable stomach issues i'd been having since childhood were becoming fiercely debilitating.  In other words dining out was becoming less about what was on the menu and more about where the nearest restroom was located.  Not as embarrassing to write as it is to say out loud. Thank God.  Ok, back on track.  The doctor told me to steer clear of the following:

Caffeine - hate the taste of coffee, so no problem

Dairy - That one I already knew about.  Coping-handled.

Alcohol - Really? Meh. Fine.

Gluten - Huh? Wait... bread? Baked goodies? No...no no no NOOOO.

If you know me and can visualize my nervous breakdown in the doctors office... feel free to roll your eyes.  Those who find it funny try not to fall out of your chair. In hindsight it was on the verge of hilarious and I give the doctor major props for not laughing at me.

So basically, I started this blog to talk about my experiences as one of those gluten free people.  The ups, downs, sometimes sideways glances and everything in between.

In the midst of my rants I may even have a recipe or restaurant recommendation.

Also, huge thank you to my dear friend and artist extraordinaire Lauren Briere  Click her name to check out her work!

One serious note before ending: I spend a lot of time whining and joking about the lack of gluten in my life BUT... since cutting it out of my diet I have felt like a million bucks.  There was and is no better feeling than being "normal."  I'll leave it there.

Stay tuned.
